RESUME/CURRICULUM VITAE

My Professional Journey

I began my interpreting journey in 2013 after spending one year working as a psychiatric technician in a Deaf and Hard of Hearing ward. A few months earlier, in 2012, I began working on two separate bachelor's degrees - one in American Sign Language Interpreting and one in Psychology. Since the beginning of my career, I have spent the majority of my time in mental health and medical situations, although I also have experience interpreting in college classrooms, k-12 classrooms, prisons, concerts, and other large venues. Furthermore, I have worked in VRS consistently since May of 2019.

As teaching has always been a passion of mine, I began offering tutoring to sign language and interpreting students in 2015. The following year I was offered the opportunity to teach community education courses through Southwestern Illinois College in American Sign Language as a Deaf instructor could not be found.

In August of 2019, after a relocation to South Florida for my husband's career, I also began teaching American Sign Language in a college preparatory charter high school.  The following year I began my master's degree in Interpreting Pedagogy, and am now ready to educate interpreters at a college level.
